The Ultimate Summer 2022 Bucket List to Feed Your Body, Mind & Soul
It’s summer 2022, baby, which means it’s time for seasonal depression to melt away like a popsicle dripping down a toddler’s sticky hand and to embrace everything about the warm weather the best way I know how — with an official summer 2022 bucket list!
This year, we aren’t just embracing the annual Hot Girl Summer mentality of living your best life. We’re also fully embodying Healing Girl Summer — it’s time to take better care of our minds, bodies and souls.
Now how can we do that? By creating a list of activities that helps us get to know our authentic selves, take proper care of our bodies and connect with the people we love. By the end of the summer, we’ll be glowing from the inside out!
Here’s the best bucket list to better your mental health this summer 2022.
Ways to Be More in Tune With Yourself
Step #1 of the Healing Girl Summer bucket list is to become your best friend. This summer, get a better understanding of who you are, what makes you you and how you can bring out your most authentic self.
Take a break from technology for a week
Channel your creativity and make colorful beaded jewelry
Read a good book on the beach or at the park (my current favorite is “Book Lovers” by Emily Henry)
Journal outside in a shaded area
Take a few minutes to create a daily skincare routine (remember to apply sunscreen!)
Plan a solo date
Push yourself out of your comfort zone by trying something new
Write letters to the people who mean the most in your life. This’ll help you practice gratitude and appreciation for your loved ones. The choice to give them their letters or not is up to you!
Become a plant parent! It feels great to take care of another living thing and collect a bunch of cool pottery and plants.
If you set 2022 goals back in January, take a look at them again. See what goals you want to tackle in the next six months and if necessary, adjust your goals — it’s totally normal to change your mind on what you thought you wanted to accomplish this year!
Write a heartfelt letter to your younger self
Listen to music from your childhood and dance around like no one is watching
Get organized by doing a deep cleanse of your bedroom. Donate the items you don’t want, reuse items, like plastic bags and old shoeboxes, for storage and throw away any trash. Clearing your space can help you clear your mind!
Paint a custom paint-by-numbers canvas with your favorite picture
Wake up early to watch the sunrise
Ways to Nourish & Move Your Body
While it’s totally valid to exercise and eat better because you want to look fit (as long as it comes from a place of love, not insecurity), it shouldn’t be the only reason. Let’s take care of our bodies, so we can feel energized, well rested and happy. (All food is energy, so eat what makes you feel good!)
Go for a hike
Eat at a local restaurant you’ve never been to
Take a bike ride
Pick berries at your local farm
Swim in the ocean during the sunrise or sunset
Take a beach yoga class
Make homemade pasta
Go for a walk around your neighborhood during sunset
Eat breakfast outside and listen to the sounds of nature
Create a veggie garden in your backyard for the best homegrown meals
Go zip lining (preferably on a day that’s not 90 degrees)
Create a sports league with your friends or just play a few games in the park
Volunteer at an animal shelter and walk dogs
Go mini golfing
Make homemade ice cream and create a delicious sundae
Ways to Connect Deeper with People
After more than a year of social restrictions, many of us are more than ready to dust off our social skills, venture back into society and hang out with our loved ones again. This summer, let’s do things that strengthen our current relationships and maybe even form some new ones!
Host a themed BBQ
Create a summer playlist with your friends
Host a bonfire and make s’mores
Use Teleparty to watch a movie or TV show together with your friends, even when you’re not in the same room
Watch fireworks
Plan a weekend getaway to a small city
Host a themed party
Go camping in your backyard
Take photos of your friends on a disposable camera
Go to a drive-in movie theater
Start a book club
Picnic on the beach or at the park
If your pals live far away, you can still create memories that’ll last a lifetime. Buy a journal, mail it around to each other and have every person write a passage in it, rotating the journal until it’s completely full. You can have fun with this by writing what you’ve done recently, taping in pictures and more. Get creative!
Go thrifting with your friends and pick outfits for each other
Take pictures at a flower field
Summer is the perfect time to step outside, soak in the vitamin D and treat yourself to self-care. If you do anything on this summer 2022 bucket list, feel free to email me or send me a DM on Instagram. I’d love to know!
Your friend,
